We are very proud, to be able to call the process of creating a watch - manufacturing. The etymology of this word is a combination of Latin words "manus" and "factus", what means create by hands.
Our watches are fully created by hands of our talented master. We don't have a specialized factory or machines. All the process goes on in a small room, where we live. While working we use only some basic machines to cut the wood, glasses and microscope, and small tools to work with miniature details.
You can see how the process goes by the photos below. If you still do not believe - we invite you to visit us.
This is the place where the manufacturing process goes. You can see woods on the left, that have just been prepared for the new models. Tools on the right serve for miniature woodcarving, and in the middle there's staying a microscope, which helps us while we working with marquetry and wooden mechanisms.
This is the process of creating details for the mechanism. Salix manufacturing is able to create high quality wooden mechanic movements with tourbillon.
This is how our attempts of logo placing were made. Before starting a production we test all the details and wood combinations. Testing of the future watch provides on real models and on real wood. After that we can be sure that we are creating what we want or what the customer wants.
We chose special unique woods to craft the dial to make it as deep as you can see on photos.
We don't use computers in our work. Even the design process goes on by drawing models on paper. This is where the model is born. Usually design might change during the manufacturing, due to the colors of wood.
Small details or the future mechanic movement.
This is our marquetry pictures. They are fully handcrafted. Marquetry is a process of creating pictures using wooden incrustation.
